COVID-19 Coronavirus Interstate Travel Safety Tip List For Drivers
How To Stay Uninfected On the Road

If you are an interstate driver taking you car across state borders then you may have noticed how different states are suggesting we stay safe. Use this Coronavirus Interstate Travel Safety Tip List as your consistent guide.

Watch This Informative Video

Each State’s Governor had to decide if there would be a state stay at home order and forced closing of non-essential businesses.
I turned on the radio to get a Chicago traffic report and heard 3 coronavirus testing sites were causing traffic congestion. Police were noticing and increase in speeding related crashes in the significantly less crowded interstates and surface streets. Speed traps were set up all over CA, IL, OH, PA.

Lessons Learned About Travel During the Corona Virus Outbreak

Coronavirus Interstate Travel Safety Can Be Achieved with this driver safety tip list. Learn the top ways to avoid infection with COVID-19.

Pay at the pump after wiping keypad with sanitary wipe. Eat drive through food. Drink ionized water. Park in full sunlight. Sunlight sterilizes surfaces and skin. State rest areas are cleaner than truck stop or restaurant bathrooms. Still, wipe before you sit and don’t pee on the seat. Wash the sink handles every time you use a sink. Use ultraviolet light to disinfect items like money, phones, masks and what have you. Stay out of crowds. Take the road less traveled. Greet non-verbally by bumping elbows. Don’t pass pipes and joints, everybody smoke on their own devices.

Shop with protective gear on and grab a store wipe cloth coming in when available. Mouth covering is for preventing some potential spread of infection. Respirators or mask and eye protection are for preventing getting infected. Protect your eyes with swimming goggles. Helps keep fingers out of eyes. Don’t wear a mask driving alone in your car. It just funks up the mask for no benefit. Make gas stations keep receipt paper from running out so you can pay at the pump. Wash your hands after touching anything others also touch. Have them put your change in a plastic zip lock bag for later sterilization before it’s put in your wallet.

Cough into your arm, not your hand, not a handkerchief. Paper towels are better than toilet paper or kleenex tissues for high volume expectoration. Constantly run fluids through your body, sipping every 5-10 minutes.

The original Unboxing and leaf blower-vac testing post is here.

Leaf Blower Used As A Snow Blower

It’s the first snowy week in Michigan and while putting my summer lawn care tools in storage I saw my Black + Decker Combination Leaf Blower-Vacuum. Since the snow was fresh and pretty much undisturbed, I decided to do an experiment with it. Could it work as a snow blower?
To find out, I plugged in the leaf blower-vac and set it up in blower mode with 2 sections attached. First I tucked the power extension cord into the cord slot so it couldn’t be unplugged and it would stay dry to avoid a water induced short to my cord.
Then I opened the front door so I could sweep the powdery snow enough to clear the porch around my door. After that I proceed to blow all the snow off my porch and three concrete front steps.

Watch This Follow Up Video To See How It Worked

Using my leaf blower like a snow blower worked pretty well.

hand held electric leaf blower-vac used as snow blower

I was pleased with the result. A much cleaner job than I would have had using a shovel or broom. Especially when I removed the snow from my door mat which cleared off completely. Any other way would have smashed snow down into the fibers of the mat.
I also have a no skid strip that cleared very well with no scraping damage to wear out the surface. Shoveling over the strip always damages it a bit each time. I also like how I could blow the snow out from tight areas, around obstacles, and it really cleaned out all the inside corners.
A shovel just can’t do that. Plus, there was no back strain, it was pretty effortless.

Leaf blower removes snow from cars

Additionally, I used it to blow 4 inches of snow off my car. In the video you can see me clear off the back, the windows most of the windshield and started on the hood.
At that point I figured It passed the test. It cleared off the snow without making any contact that could scratch my paint.

As I worked down to the front end of my porch I encountered two problems.

Electric snow blower is hand heldFirst I came across a spot where the mail carrier walked on he snow. The snow crushed and froze into ice in the footprint. That was not going anywhere with my snow blower. Because it is hard to chip off with a shovel. So it is best to do this trick before anyone can disturb the snow.
Second, I find that a first snowfall had partially melts and becomes a snow crust under the more recent snow. It is not powder, nor is it ice. When I nudge it with the nozzle of the blower it can break up an fly away. So I bet a special metal scoop attachment would help this process. You can see what I mean on the video.

Notes and suggestions.

Be careful not to let the cord or the motor to get wet. I imagine it’s not UL safety approved to be used this way. Prevent snow from going up the air intake on the bottom. Avoid snow or debris collecting on the intake guard.
Also, wear gloves and keep in mind that the air intake goes at almost 200 mph. That can produce a lot of wind chill which can freeze exposed skin.
Do  not try to use this tool as a snow vacuum. Snow will crust around the motor, the motor heat will melt it and either damage the  motor or cause a short circuit that could electrocute you. It is not a wet-dry vacuum.

That’s it. The Black and Decker Cordless Electric Leaf Blower-Vac used as a snow blower. Do you you enjoy videos like this?

I’ve been wanting a Leaf Vacuum for years. I finally made the plunge. I bought a Black & Decker BEBL7000 12 Amp Corded Electric Leaf Blower/Vac. Watch me unbox and test it out in this video series.

Assembly is simple with snap on tab-and-hole connections for the 3 blower tube attachments and 2 pieces for the vac attachment. It blows out the front side and sucks air up the bottom of the electric motor.
This video shows the unit with all three blower attachments for a high power directed blast of wind, The real power is when the tube nozzle is removed. Then it blows at 250 mph. There is a two position power switch for running at half or full power.

In this second video of this series I will demonstrate how well the Black & Decker Blower works with the tip nozzle off and at low and high power.
First there’s a demonstration of leaf blowing wet leaves over dirt and sticks. I clear out a 3 square yard area. The sticks were left for me to pick up and burn.
Next I show how the low power setting is good for light work like clearing cut grass off of sidewalks.
Then I time out raking vs blowing with two, 2 square yard sections of wet leaves. Raking was 30 seconds faster but blowing gets leaves out of places and objects that raking can’t accomplish. Raking to a tarp is still the best way to deal with large leaf piles.

I show how it works as a regular hand held chainsaw. The hole for the pole is covered and power is plugged in using the cord attached to the saw. Be sure to secure the cord to the saw so it won’t get unplugged and always keep the cord behind you when using any electric powered hand tools.
I show the chainsaw cutting branches from 2″ to 5″ with the side cut method. I could have used the cut off method which is more proper. I would have if I was cutting logs. With a 10″ blade edge you should be able to cut up to a 9″ diameter branch or stump.
Wipe off the chain saw after each use and check for flammable debris clustered around the air ports by the motor.

Unboxing & Testing a Green Works Electric Pole Saw

Unboxing and Testing a Green Works Electric Pole Saw

This is the first of this video series about the Green Works Electric Pole Saw Model PSCS 06B00 where you see me unboxing and testing it out.

I love green tech products. I also needed a chainsaw badly. You can’t allow trees, especially fruiting trees, to grow branches that hang over your roof. I wanted an electric saw that was light weight enough to safely use while on my roof. This unit weighs 6 lb (2.8kg) which was the lowest weight for a chainsaw that was beefy enough to work on 4″ diameter branches.

This chainsaw was easy to assemble and operate. The only thing I didn’t get instructions for was disassembling the pole back to 3 sections. I’ll be sure to follow up on that point.

This is another product suggestion for property managers and real estate investors. Brought to you by Red Bud EX101, LLC

Seagate External Hard Drive Unboxing Video

Your business needs hard drive storage. Seagate’s 1 through 10 tetrabyte external disk hard drive is an affordable option for office storage and backup needs. See my unboxing video.

Unboxing and testing of a Seagate Expansion 4TB hard drive. See how it came from a store, why I felt the need to do a video about this, and how to assemble the drive with the power supply cord and the USB to Disc Drive cable. Then I test it with a 63 GB backup of my media drive.
It is a fast and serviceable backup unit, just what I want in an external data storage device. High storage disk drives are still a good way to store data in an office or other fixed location.

Bottom line:
It worked and still works as it should, but it stays out of sight and out of the way. For more robust performance and 4 times the cash, I’d buy Solid State Drives so I can take it with a laptop when I travel for work.

To keep backup copies of all your business data you want to go with the largest sized storage device you can afford. It should be a Solid State Drive or (SSD) because it can maintain data integrity over the greatest time span. This is far better than a larger disk drive. SSD’s have less moving parts to break and runs faster.

This video is about the Ryobi Cordless Electric Lawn Mower. How to operate it with a good demonstration of it’s abilities.

Ryobi 40volt 20in Electric Lawn Mower -battery powered cordless

Ryobi electric mower cordlessClick to Watch

Red Bud Inn Inc. needed a new lawn mower. Since we are a green tech integrating business we chose to buy an electric style cutter.
The question was: how to mow the lawn without polluting?
Are there good electric lawn mowers available locally?

My answer was at Home Depot using my SupplyWorks account. For $320.00 I purchased this cordless electric mower. This unit, Ryobi RY40181, is a 40 Volt brushless motor with a 20 inch; blade.
I would suggest you get a high quality blade to save energy. The blade that comes with it is pretty basic.
It comes with a single 40v, 5 ah (Amp/hours) battery. I think it should have come with 2 batteries and a cord adapter option.
You will want to buy at least 2 additional batteries and maybe a other charger to keep working all day.

Here’s a follow up video about the Riobi Cordless Electric Mower
In this video I document these things: A charged Battery that has sat around over a month will probably need to be put on the charger for a half hour top off then battery. Wet grass and leaves uses more energy than dry grass. The grass must be 2.5 in. long before the leaves on top will go into the collection bag well. What doesn’t go into the bag gets mulched to 1 in. or smaller bits.

How Long Does It Run On One Charge?

Watch this video of the battery power test,

In this video I go over the charge, mowing, recharging cycle and determine just how long the mower will run on one battery fully charged battery. Then I show how long it takes to fully charge the lithium ion 40v battery from dead empty to full. What I found was there’s a 2.5 ratio of charge time to maximum running time. I did this by letting the electric lawn mower run without any grass cutting resistance until the motor shut down for lack of power. Then I recharge to full again. All done recording the time with a clock in the video.

Optimus 700W Oil-Filled Mini Space Heater

Optimus Oil Filled Radiator Heater, H-6003A

Optimus makes good quality electric heaters for a variety of applications.
H-6003A, 700W, Model YL-B12-7

You , or at least I, couldn’t find these in the usual stores. So I ordered one online with my vendor account. Of course, anything I get sent in the mail for my company is going to get at least an unboxing vid.

Putting them to use

700w draws 5-6 Amps with a power surge when the heating element starts warming up. Most house circuit breakers in the USA are labeled in the breaker box as 25 Amp and 30 Amp. These are common to room by room or areas covered by each circuit supplying the wall outlets.

So by rounding up to 6 Amps per Optimus we can figure how many you can put on a circuit together (assuming no overhead lights or needed appliances)
The max possible number would be… 25/ 6 = 4.2 or 4 heaters 30/ 6 = 5 heaters. Then subtract 1 if there are overhead lights, and more depending on how much current (Wattage/120Volts) is being used.

Some heaters go down to 300Watts but oil filled have a minimum of 600Watts and go up to 900, 1200, 1600 Watts.
In comparison to most radiator style space heaters, you would only be able to run 2 heaters at 1600 Watts on one outlet circuit. If they can be close enough, try putting all your power draws for a circuit on one 25 Amp power strip to avoid running to the fuse box.

Follow up with How to Empty a Hoover Windtunnel Bagless

In this video I demonstrate how to empty the dust chamber of the Hoover Windtunnel bagless vacuum cleaner. There is also a process for cleaning the HEPA filter but that’s not included.
This shows how to remove dirt, debris, sawdust, ash, fiber, hair, and dust that was sucked up by my Windtunnel enough to completely fill the container.
how to empty bagless vacuum
After 3 months of use it was time to empty it for the follow up video. It was starting to lose suction especially with the tool accessories. The top has a pressure indicator that rolls over from green to red when running. The more red the more full. So I show how to open and clean out the Windtunnel chamber into a trash can. A button on top disengages the chamber which pivots off of a hinged front edge. Then a button on a grey lever unlocks the bottom. For smaller quantities this may be all that’s needed to empty it.
You can shop for bagless vacuum cleaners to find the one that best fits your needs and budget.
It is a demonstration to the fullest. This video is an example of a full chamber canister so the top will have to come off. Tabs hold the top on and unlock with a twist. Be careful not to spill the chamber as you lift the top out of it. Hairs will collect on the filter holes that may not suck through and can be removed. Thought I might do this without getting dirty but I couldn’t. Mostly because of stuff coming out through the intake chute of the canister. The chamber itself occupies one hand but is not much use as a tool to clear the filter assembly. A stray dust bunny evaded me that I hope will just blow into the chamber when I start the vacuum. The removable plastic parts are easy to clean with water and dishwasher safe. Then the tabs are lined up to push the top back on, twist on, and lock. Then I cleaned up my mess with my Hoover Windtunnel bagless vacuum cleaner.
